Two 17-year-olds were arrested on Halloween after Jersey City police noticed them exchange a black handgunThe Jersey Journal reports. 

At about 11:30 p.m., a police officer spotted three teens sitting on a porch on Grant Avenue. A few minutes later, another teen approached the group and began to speak to them, the report said.

One of the teens sitting on the porch then removed a black handgun from his waist, leaned over the railing and handed it to the other teen, police said.

When police attempted to stop the teen with the weapon, he took off running, stumbled and fell about a half block from the home, cops said. A loaded 9mm handgun fell out of the teen’s waistband as he stumbled, police said.

Police then went back to the Grant Avenue home and arrested the teen who gave the gun to the other.

The other two in the group were released at the scene.

Both teens were charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purposeunlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor. The second teen was additionally charged with resisting arrest.
