Open/Close Menu Personal Injury Lawyer NJ

People come to my firm with high expectations and I have high expectations of myself, too.  One thing clients sometimes fail to realize is how important THEY are in bringing about a favorable resolution of a claim.

We do a lot of work on your case – calls to insurance companies, negotiations, drafting pleadings, contacting your doctors, doing legal research, preparing for depositions, filing motions, answering the adversary’s motions and more.  Although we do a lot of work, there are a few things that you must do as well.

  • If you move or change you telephone number, let me know.   Surely you care enough about your case to provide me with up-to-date contact information.  Nothing is more frustrating than that occasional client who disappears for the summer without telling me.
  • Be truthful with me.  This requires being honest with yourself.  For example, if you’re partially at fault for an accident, you’ll be a member of a pretty big club.
  • Go to doctor appointments and follow doctor recommendations.   If you change doctors or begin seeing a new one, you must provide my office with the names and addresses of all new doctors.
  • The insurance company will have you scheduled for an evaluation by its doctor(s).  YOU MUST ATTEND THIS!
  • Put a hold on Facebook and Twitter.
  • Supply all requested documents on time.  You will need to fill out a variety of forms and provide insurance and medical documents periodically to your personal injury lawyer. Return any forms fully completed and provide documents in a timely manner to keep your case progressing and help your lawyer meet any filing deadlines. The legal process will naturally take long enough.  Don’t add to that by taking extra time to provide requested information after your accident.
  • Ask questions.  Many of you who come to me have never been involved in a lawsuit before.  My mom used to tell me that the onlu stupid question is the one you don’t ask.  I encourage you to ask questions.
  • Listen to me an my experienced associates and staff.  We want to help.

As a client, you must understand that although the heavy lifting will be done by me, my associates and my staff, you have responsibilities to cooperate.  The bottom line, really, is the bottom line.  The less you, the a client, cooperate, the less you are likely to get. The more you cooperate, the more likely you are to maximize your recovery.

Bottom line.
