Recently, more than 140 people were felled by norovirus after eating at a fast food restaurant near the campus of Boston College.  There’s no need to go into detail about the after effects.  Suffice to say that most of those affected were not up to studying for finals. As you might have expected, a lawsuit has already been filed.  As you can see in the infographic below, more than half of food workers go to work when they are sick.  Not good.   Indeed, an inspection of the Boston fast Mexican food restaurant which appears to have been the home of the norovirus disclosed that a worker had reported to his job sick.

As you can see from the next infographic, if you are a food service worker, one of the cardinal rules is “stay home when sick.”

My firm represents many clients who work in the food service industry.  I understand that financial constraints sometimes push them to work when they are sick.  Still, they should stay at home and not risk a mini-epidemic like we recently saw in Boston which, in the end, closed the business temporarily.
