Word now is that there might be yet another candidate running for president – and no, it won’t be a Republican this time.

As far as the outcome of the Democratic Party nominating process, I have no dog in the fight.  But Joe Biden is a mensch- gaffes and all – and I admire him. His life has been marred by the tragedy of losing his first wife and 13-month-old daughter in a car crash that also injured his sons Beau and Hunter. Now, Beau just recently died from brain cancer.  To put it mildly, the news has not all been good for Hillary Clinton and some think it’s a mater of time before the wheels come off her campaign.  So Joe Biden is also talking to friends, family and donors about jumping in. The 72-year-old vice president has been having meetings at his Washington residence to explore the idea of taking on Hillary in Iowa and New Hampshire.

A website is up and running (where you can get your “I’m ridin’ with Biden” gear).  In the end, though, it would be tough sledding against the Clinton establishment fund-raising juggernaut.

Could be interesting, though, if Clinton stumbles.  But Paul Waldman has just written a blog at that Biden will not be running for President.  It’s a condescending piece, in my view, that does not acknowledge Biden’s many years of service in the Senate, including chairmanships of the Foreign Affairs and Judiciary Committees and also ignores President Obama’s reliance upon him through his years in office.

We’ll see how this goes.  In the meantime, I’m going to get lots of popcorn for Thursday’s republican debate.  Should be entertaining.
