New Jersey Transit train hit a man who was trespassing just east of Perth Amboy station early Sunday morning, NJ.com is reporting.

New Jersey Transit spokeswoman Jennifer Nelson said the man was still alive but declined to provide further details about his

condition. The man was a Perth Amboy resident in his early 40s, according to Nelson, and he was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment.

The train, which had departed New York Penn Station just after midnight, struck the man around 1 a.m., Nelson said.

There were no injuries to the passengers or crew members on board the train, according to Nelson, who said train service was disrupted in both directions for more than an hour.
