A 43-year-old man was shot and killed and two others were wounded in a shooting inside a subway station at Eighth Avenue and 35th Street in Manhattan, by Pennsylvania Station, shortly before 6:15 a.m. Monday, the NYPD said according to  The New York Times.
The result was a commuters’ nightmare for riders from New Jersey and Long Island.  Many of my clients and potential clients from Essex, Union, Middlesex and Hudson counties were inconvenienced.
The man, who was declared dead at the scene, was not immediately identified by the police. The two other victims, a 45-year-old man with wounds to his neck and abdomen, and a 48-year-old shot in the leg, were taken to Bellevue Hospital Center in serious condition, the police said.
The gunman fled the scene.
The shooting took place about two blocks from the spot along Eighth Avenuewhere officers shot a man on the street this year in connection with a string of hammer attacks . While the incident is still under investigation, it appears to have been the result of an early morning altercation which started inside a McDonald’son Eighth Avenue, between 34th and 35th Streets, that has a reputation as a throwback to a seedier era in New York and a place with many “off-the-menu” sales, as The Times put it.
