Open/Close Menu Personal Injury Lawyer NJ  reports that State Police have released information regarding the initial incident Trooper Sean Cullen was responding to when he was struck and killed Monday night.

Willard Hamilton Jr., 27, of Paulsboro was driving a Nissan Altima southbound on I-295 when he rear-ended a Mercedes 2LV. The Nissan spun into the left guardrail and caught fire, according to State Police Sgt. Jeff Flynn.

The driver of the Mercedes, Dajuan Wagner, 33, of West Deptford, was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. Hamilton was not injured, police said.

The collision is still under investigation and no charges or citations have been issued.

Cullen, a State Trooper for the past two years who formerly worked for the Mount Holly and Westampton Police Departments, was walking near the accident when a passing motorist hit him. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital where he died a few hours later.

The 22-year-old woman who hit him stopped immediately and cooperated with police. She and another woman were brought to a hospital for unspecified injuries as well. No charges have been filed in Cullen’s death and this incident is also still under investigation.

Police have not released information about the injuries suffered by the women.
