A Jersey City teen was shot in the shoulder early Thursday morning at Union Street and Bergen Avenue, The Jersey Journal reports.

Details of the shooting, which occurred before 2 a.m., are vague because both the 17-year-old victim and his mother were uncooperative at the hospital, police said.

The victim and his mother did not call 911, but went to the Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health on their own, Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said.

While the boy and his mother were uncooperative with police, detectives, through further interviews and canvassing of the area described by the victim, determined he was shot at Union Street and Bergen Avenue, Morrill said.
