Three men were named in a 23-count indictment by a Middlesex County grand jury for the murder of a New Brunswick man in May 2014, NJ.com reports .
Rolando Martinez Sanchez, 24, Manual; Mendez, 23, and Renee Herrera, 30,all of New Brunswick, are also charged with aggravated manslaughter, manslaughter, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.
Sanchez and Mendez were also charged with hindering their apprehension, witness tampering and obstruction of the administration of law.
The three men were indicted Tuesday, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor.
Carey said Sanchez allegedly opened fire on a group of men on Hale Street in New Brunswick on May 18, 2014 and struck Hernandez,who was not one of the intended target. Hernandez was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he was pronounced dead at 1:08 a.m.
Two other men, who were sitting with Hernandez on the porch of the home on Hale Street, were wounded during the shooting, Carey said. One man was treated and released at the hospital. The other man suffered a wound to his finger and declined treatment.
The indictment was handed up following an investigation by Detective Drew Weiss of the New Brunswick Police Department and county Detective Gregory Morris with assistance from members of the Newark office of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Sanchez remains in custody in lieu of $1 million bail set when he was charged in December 2014. Bail was
