Two men and a woman were wounded in a shooting on the steps of a Julia Street home late Thursday night, NJ.com is reporting.
All of the victims were taken to University Hospital in Newark and each of them is listed in stable condition, Deputy Police Chief John Brennan said.
He said officers responded to reports of the shooting about 11 p.m. on Julia Street near Jackson Avenue.
Police found the three victims who had been shot on the front porch of a house at 1044 Julia St., Brennan said.
He said at least one of the three men, and possibly more, pulled out a gun and started shooting, wounding the three victims, and then running from the scene.
Officers at first thought that a fourth person at the house, a intoxicated man had also been shot, but later determined that he was not wounded, the deputy chief said.
The victims, two men ages 31 and 22, and the woman, 47, are all Elizabeth residents. Their wounds are not life-threatening, Brennan said.
He said police are still investigating the motive for the shooting.
Julia Street and Jackson Avenue was the scene of another shooting on June 25. One person wounded in that shooting, which authorities later said was one of three related shootings, all committed on the same day.
With the shootings Thursday night, a total of six people have been wounded in Elizabeth in the last six days. Two other people were shot and wounded in two separate robberies last Saturday.
