Fatal School Bus Crash Under Investigation
What was supposed to be a bus ride to a school field trip turned into a horrific morning for a group of fifth-graders. A school bus transporting 38 fifth-graders and seven adults (including the driver) collided with a dump truck, resulting in the death of a student and a teacher while leaving 43 others injured.
The incident took place around 10:21 a.m. on Interstate 80 in Morris County, New Jersey. The impact of the collision caused the bus to overturn, coming to rest on its side in the highway median.
As of the day following the crash, state police were still investigating the cause. Meanwhile, the injured were transported to multiple area hospitals for treatment. Some of the injured were in critical condition and required surgery.
Catastrophic Injuries Can Impact the Rest of Your Life
The collision between the dump truck and the school bus is one of the worst accidents that can happen. While specific details about their injuries are not clear yet, many of the injured will be looking at a lifetime of change because of this accident.
