The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) reports the national large truck crash statistics annually. According to their detailed reports, the number of large trucks and buses in fatal crashes has increased by 26 percent between 2009 and 2015. Many studies have been conducted to determine the common causes of truck accidents and how to prevent them. The FMCSA concedes that truck accidents are very complex events that are influenced by many different factors that could happen days or even months before the crash. The most common factors that influence truck accidents include driver experience and training, driver impairment, weather conditions, traffic signaling, vehicle design and overall highway conditions.
