Workers Electrocuted in New Jersey Construction Accident
Three workers were electrocuted at a New Jersey construction site accident in Woodbridge Township on the morning of Friday, October 11th.
Just before 8:00 am, workers installing siding in a residential neighborhood on Quincy Court were electrocuted when a 40-foot pole from their scaffolding fell.
The workers tried to grab the pole as it fell and were electrocuted when the pole hit a high-tension wire along the street.
Police on the scene tried to revive the workers as they waited for EMS personnel to arrive. Two of the construction workers were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where one was pronounced dead and the other was admitted in critical condition.
A third worker was taken to a hospital in South Amboy with serious burns. The work on the construction site has been halted so an investigation can be conducted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
One resident of the neighborhood said that she heard a loud boom and it felt as if the whole area was shaking as the accident occurred. The witness also told a local news station that she saw the two workers fall from the scaffolding and that one was being administered CPR.
Contact a Perth Amboy Personal Injury Lawyer to Discuss Your New Jersey Workplace Injury Case
A workplace injury can be devastating, particularly if it prevents you from returning to work for an extended period of time. Although New Jersey workers’ compensation laws are supposed to provide you with reimbursement for medical expenses and replacement pay for missed time at work, it is not always easy to get the workers’ comp benefits you deserve.
That is why you should speak with a knowledgeable workers’ compensation lawyer about your situation and get guidance throughout the claims process. In addition to collecting available Workers’ Compensation benefits in an administrative action against your employer, you may be able to seek significant remedies, in court, against negligent third parties.
